November

What are the things that make you cry?
(The Gypsy rye)
What are the things you may not try?
(The Gypsy's warning)

What are the things that make you smile?
(The Gypsy rye)
What are the things you dare not try?
(The Gypsy's warning)

September comes so easily
November goes so suddenly

But you don't know how they turned you into a melody
And you don't know why they left you behind the script
But you don't know how they turned you into a scenery
And you don't know why they left you inside the picture

November comes so easily
December goes so suddenly

Hi tcp,

Do you write tunes? Pardon my ignorance, I think "November" is mesmerizing; its melody and lyrics.

I just wish if someone can transform the first six lines of T.S. Eliot's Wasteland into a song...

April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers.
C [訪客] 2005-07-28 @ 18:44
dear C,

very surprising:)
wonder where did you come from...

well, there was a time i wished to turn Eliot's 'The Love Song for J. Alfred Prufrock' into melody
afterall it was just a dream:p

have u tried to write tunes for Wasteland?
i like his peoms very much
but not sure whether i could sing it or not....

tcp,

How I wish I can play a musical instrument... I can't write tune, I can't be Elton, but I would like to be a Bernie Taupin. Think of a colaboration? ;)

I write poetry. I'd like to venture into lyrics.
C [訪客] 2005-07-31 @ 14:02
dear C,

we will definitely like to see another Bernie!
but i couldn't be Elton neither, cuz i dono when i'll be writing tunes
it comes all of a sudden
most importantly i'm a piano idiot:p
anyway i still wish to sing Wasteland someday^^

would you mind posting some of ur poems here?
or email me?

cheers!

tcp,

I'm quite flattered by your invitation. Herein presents a recent poem of mine,

'Aftermath'

How many poets marry his muse,
his childhood sweetheart?
First sight is the Mother of cues.
First sight is divine mold.
Poet remembers a spark
how glaring-- in time, heart-shattering,
yet always mysteriously,
serendipitously nutrient to soul.

P.S. Feel free to give comment.

Dear C,

i think this is a good work
and the title is brilliant!
the rhythm sounds a bit like Neruda (i'm quite sure that this guy won't annoy you)
the word 'serendipitous' is always a perfect term for poetry -- and poets are serendippers don't u agree?^^

let us read more of ur writings.
tcp [會員] 2005-08-07 @ 15:48
tcp,

It's interesting to be compared to Pablo Neruda, but I never really read his work, maybe I should put more effort than just glancing over. I don't know how my lines could have been consonant with Neruda's, not sure if he crafted any English poem, maybe you can share your favorite of Neruda's work with me. You're not sure if Neruda would annoy me, actually I heard that he was kinda morally doubious in political affairs, and people got murdered because of his instigation or involvement. Don't worry I won't be annoyed, I accept the fact that being a poet doesn't mean one has to be morally flawless. And History will give Neruda a fair treatment someday.

I will share with you from time to time if I have any new poem ;)
